SIBERIAN HUSKY NOSE BUTTER® SOOTHES, CONDITIONS & MOISTURIZES YOUR DOG'S DRY NOSE...NATURALLY!
Husky nose problems range from dry, crusty, even cracked nose to more serious issues such as canine lupus. This can be so frustrating for loving Husky owners. NOSE BUTTER® is handcrafted with love for your Husky dog’s nose and presented with confidence that together we can have your Husky feeling better fast.
Occasionally we see Huskies with an extremely dry nose which has overgrown tissue covering it, called Nasal Hyperkeratosis. For more info on Nasal Hyperkeratosis click HERE.
A MOIST HEALTHY NOSE IS IMPORTANT TO YOUR HUSKY
Your Husky was born to run for hours, through the snow in cold temperatures while pulling a sled. Now that is one tough dog. A dog who is genetically blessed with that kind of endurance deserves to look and feel their best at all time.
Husky NOSE BUTTER® is packed full of yummy herbal moisturizers that will get and keep your Husky’s nose in shape fast. Huskies not only have a tendency toward dry noses, there are also other conditions that plague their noses, such as snow nose or nasal solar dermatitis.
HUSKY NOSE BUTTER is not offered as a cure for genetic conditions, but it will help your dog be more comfortable and get rid of the Husky dry nose crusty patches and ridges. I love the terminology that NOSE BUTTER® can help HEAL the nose, but not CURE the condition.
HUSKY NOSE SPECIFIC ISSUES
SNOW NOSE or WINTER NOSE is a condition in which the dog’s nose is pink down the middle of their normally dark nose. Nordic breeds, such as the Husky, are prone to it, as are Labs and other random breeds. It seems to be triggered by shorter daylight hours and is NOT, as you would think, caused by cold weather. When the days get longer, the normal.darker pigmentation comes back. It can also become permanent with age (that blasted getting old!).
No other health issues seem to accompany this condition, so it has not warranted extensive study. My gut says it may be associated with Vitamin D, the sunlight vitamin, but please do NOT dose your dog with Vitamin D without veterinarian consultation. Some also suspect a weakened thyroid gland, which makes sense also.
OTHER HUSKY NOSE ISSUES
Here is some info on the various conditions Siberian Huskies are prone to:
Zinc-responsive skin disease: is caused by a zinc absorption issue. Zinc supplementation is required for dogs diagnosed with this condition for the rest of their life. Diets that are too high in calcium or other nutrients can precipitate the onset.
Nasal solar dermatitis—Hereditary immune diseasese. The skin of the face and nose are involved, it is called “Collie Nose” though many breeds have it. There is often rough, scaly skin or ulceration where the nose and skin connect, sores and color loss on the nose. The nose will sunburn easily and should be protected from the sun. Treatment includes avoiding sunlight or use sunscreen, cream corticosteroids, medication and supplements.
Discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) affects the nose, causing loss of color of the nose an open sores and crusts. Siberian Huskies and crosses may be pre-disposed to DLE.
There is no cure for discoid lupus, which is the most common inflammatory disease of the nose. The nose can become smooth and shiny. It is slick rather than the normal textured appearance of a dog nose. Pigmentation can fade and the nose leather becomes rusty, irritated, cracked, withered and often ulcerated.
Once again, this information is offered for information only. Consult your veterinarian for a medical diagnosis.
Your HUSKY looks better, feels better and more relaxed when his nose is working on all levels

NASAL HYPERKERATOSIS INFO
NASAL HYPERKERATOSIS AKA CRUSTY CRUD, BARNACLE NOSE
Is your dog’s nose EXTREMELY dry? Does it look like barnacles are growing on it? Are there layers or chunks of crust that crack and bleed? If your dog’s nose could be described as extremely dry, or looks like the BEFORE noses in the image above, it may be Nasal Hyperkeratosis. Rest assured, it is not caused by diet, genetics, playing in the dirt or anything you can control.
Nasodigital or Nasal Hyperkeratosis is an idiopathic condition, which means unknown cause ¯\(°_o)/¯ that is marked by the excessive formulation of nose crust that vets call keratin, (vet-speak for protein). It actually IS layers of skin tissue that has grown wild over on the nose. This condition isn't life-threatening and most veterinarians consider Nasal Hyperkeratosis cosmetic. But there are medical, cosmetic and mental health reasons that this dry nose condition can affect your dog's well being. It has to be uncomfortable for your dog. Your dog cannot breathe as easily. It’s unattractive, of course.
Most importantly, your dog is not getting the scents and smells they ned to feel secure and confident. A healthy moist nose snags good smells that float by and provide your dog with info. A dry nose is not going to capture the info packed smells. This can lead to frustration and a lack of self confidence. Your dog knows info is out there, but he cannot get it. Like us looking for a gas station in a sketchy neighborhood with ZERO bars on our phone. MORE INFO HERE.
