Dog Chakra alignment is not as out-there as it may sound. Our dog's chakras and nerve systems need attention also! Our canine buddies pick up on the same annoying vibes that we do in our daily lives. Too many people ringing the doorbell, that pesky brown truck that brings stuff and seems to drive our dogs MAD and of course, those thieves in the garbage truck taking all of your dog's treasures away!
Plus, just being a dog can have its own set os issues - will we ever return? The red ball or the blue ball? Here are a few tips for using the ancient practice of Reiki to help your dog relax.
This is in no means a Reiki Certification or intended to lessen the viability of the work Reiki Practitioners do, this info is shared as a loving exercise you can do for your dog.
Pick a time when it is relatively quiet and calm. If you are like me, you may have to pick a free bit of time and work into the calm and relaxed state. Don't let feeling a bit frazzled stop you from this exercise.
First - Take your dog outside for a bathroom break, just in case.
Next - Find a quiet room or spot in your home or outside for the two of you to relax. This spot should be one where you and your dog feel safe, comfortable and able to relax.
Blatant Product Plug: May I suggest our Relax Roll-On. Relax was created just for this purpose, to help you and your dog, well, relax. Roll some on your hands and gently stroke your dog. You may want to roll the Relax on their belly or inside their ears, if you feel they would like that. The gentle blend of aromatherapy oils was created to relax, calm, soothe and reassure your dog.
Next - Clear your mind of any daily stress, release any images of drunk monkeys twerking and fat squirrels dancing in Lady Gaga shoes. Be as tuned into your dog as possible. Pet them and allow both of you to relax and slow your pace.
Now it Gets Even Better
Imagine a door to your heart opening and a pure light beam of love to pour out. Then, imagine a door to your dog's heart opening and a golden or white light beam to glow. Now watch that light move from your heart to your dog's heart and back and forth in a beautiful circle of unconditional love.
This grounds and deepens the loving connection between you and your dog for this session.
You're Doing Great! Allow your hands to hover over your dog's body, not really touching, your hands float just above your dog. Allow all the love you feel for your dog to pour through your heart into your hands and onto and into your dog. If you feel so moved, you may even say a prayer or affirmation and ask for any extra love to be sent to your dog.
You may feel a bit silly or think you aren't "doing it right" but I promise, there is no wrong way to do this.
Keep Going - Allow this energy flow to continue until your dog lets you know they have had enough for this session or you feel it is time to stop. Your dog may get up and walk away, whine or become restless. Some dogs would soak up the vibes for hours and others are through in minutes. You can end the session whenever it feels you need, you will know. TIP: If you actually ask yourself, "Am I through?" you are.
ALL DONE - To end the session respectfully, imagine gently closing the door from your heart to your dog's heart and from theirs to yours. Thank your dog for accepting this gift from you and for giving you the energy that they shared. If you wish, sit and enjoy being with your dog. Just pet them or even sit without touching. Give them your undivided attention throughout this process and you will be amazed by how much better you feel.
You did it! You balanced your dog's energy system.
TREATS FOR EVERYONE! Give your dog a treat and treat yourself - whatever is a legal treat for you.
