Which Came First? Professor Ludvic von Schulmuth dated the skeleton of dog whose description reads as if he were describing the Tibetan Spaniel - short-muzzled, fine-boned, 18-20" tall, squared, short skull with a longer back and short legs. The dog was dated to have lived 150 – 950 B.C. This makes the Tibetan Spaniel the oldest of the Pekingese, Japanese Chin, Lhasa Apso, group of Tibetan/Chinese originating dogs.
