Collie nose, which is officially called discoid lupus erythematosus or nasal solar dermatitis, affects Collies, Shelties, and other collie-type dog breeds. (see images below) This inflammatory condition is believed to have a somewhat genetic component, which means the breed type has a predisposition toward it.
