The Tibetan Spaniel is a loving companion, bred for centuries to sound an alarm and be the Little Lion at your side. Like his flat-faced cousins, the Pekingese, Lhasa Apso, and Japanese Chin, the Tibbie, as they are affectionately called, often has a dry or crusty nose. Having a dry nose can affect your Tibetan Spaniel in more ways than just cosmetically. It can inhibit their ability to capture smells and lead to anxiety.
A healthy Tibetan Spaniel nose serves as smell-capturing flypaper. Floating scent particles adhere to the wet surface of a healthy nose and are sent to your dog’s scent glands for classification, storage, and decision making.
