The Leonberger is a German breed, with their roots in the city of Leonberg. Heinrich Essig wanted a dog breed to symbolize the lion for which the town was named. He crossed Newfoundlands (usually the Landseer) and long-coated Saint Bernards for a few generations, then added a Great Pyrenees and Saint Bernard cross. Or so the story goes. I'm quite sure an old-school Maury Povitch DNA Daddy test would find other dog breeds, but whatever the combo the Leonberger is a stunning dog and one of my personal faves. (Aside, yes, I showed my age with that Maury Povitch reference).
Leonbergers are an amazing combo of Great Pyrenees, St Bernard, and Newfoundland...we're so grateful to Mr. Essig. But even the toughest of Leo's can still have random minor skin irritations.
No artificial ingredients, no synthetics, no petroleum by-products, nothing you can't pronounce, just good stuff to support your Leo's healing.
