The Scottish Terrier, or Scottie as their friends call them, is one of the most easily recognized of dog breeds (unless you have a wheaten colored one, of course). Scotties have been the darling of presidents, queens, Hollywood and authors, advertising campaigns and the Monopoly board game. Yes, they originated in Scotland, as did quite a few dog breeds.
Scotties were originally bred to hunt and kill vermin (nice word for rats) on farms and then hunt badgers in the Scottish highlands. Any dog bred to hunt badgers is a force to be reckoned with!
