Canine Elbow Calluses - Uncomfortable and Unsightly + Potential For Problems

Elbow Butter All Natural Balm Conditions Your Dog's Elbow Calluses

What was the first thing you did when you noticed your dog had the start of elbow calluses? You probably immediately bought a thick, orthopedic bed and lovingly put it down for your dog. Your dog then laid down...next to it. To top it off the cat then claimed the bed.

Elbow calluses are frustrating on many levels; nobody has a great answer on what to do, the options seem like too much (surgery, etc.) or not enough and your dog still won't lie on the bed.

What Causes Elbow Calluses?

Your dog's overprotective ulna bone tries to protect the bony part of the elbow that hits the ground first. With every landing on a hard surface, the ulna tells the skin to get thicker and thicker, and pretty soon there is a callus. Enough hard landings can cause the callus to become cracked, bloody, infected, or ulcerated.

Our large/giant breed dogs (not fat-shaming) put more force/weight into their landing, which multiplies the effects. It's a vicious callus-creating cycle!

What Can Be Done About Dog Elbow Calluses?

Elbow Butter is our conditioning moisturizer that deeply penetrates the callus and softens and soothes it. We cannot guarantee Blissful Dog Elbow Butter will remove your pet’s callus, grow hair back and have them bring you the remote. We CAN promise it will moisturize and condition the calluses. We have scores of testimonials sharing how Blissful Dog Elbow Butter removed the callus and the hair grew back, but we're keeping expectations real.

Blissful Dog Elbow Butter is non-toxic, contains no active ingredients, and will not harm your dog if they lick or eat some. But it needs to be absorbed to work, so distract your dog after application (treats, feed dinner, go for a walk). FYI: Blissful Dog Elbow Butter is VERY thick and dense to penetrate and condition the thick callus tissue. A fluffy cream would not be an effective dog callus treatment.
