The Akita is one of the oldest dog breeds, with roots that are buried deep in the mountains of Japan. Those snowy origins led to the Akita having webbed paws to pad across the snow, a thick, double-layered coat, and a love for the cold weather.
The Akita we know in the US is a heavier, bigger dog than is preferred in Japan. The Japanese Akita Inu is technically the same dog as the Akita, but over time has developed into the lighter-boned, smaller-eared dog now called the Japanese Inu.
The products below were carefully curated for your Akita. Some have an Akita on the label and others are recommended for their coat and body type. Enjoy!
