BLACK AND TAN COONHOUND

BLACK AND TAN COON NOSE BUTTER® FOR YOUR DOG'S OPTIMAL NOSE HEALTH AND CONDITION

While Bloodhounds may get all the tv and movie glory, the Black and Tan Coonhound is one hard-working hound!

Like many of the other Hounds, Black and Tan Coonhounds often have a bit of dryness, even a little crustiness around the nostrils. But, if your Black & Tan Coonhound's nose is covered with crusty layers of crud and it looks like layers of oyster shells or tiny porcupine quills it could be Nasal Hyperkeratosis (more info below & HERE). The good news is NOSE BUTTER® works for all ranges of nose dryness.

YOUR BLACK & TAN COONHOUND HOUND WAS BORN AND BRED TO DO ONE THING...SNIFF OUT SCENTS

The Black & Tan Coonhound is an American bred dog breed. Bloodhounds and the Black and Tan Virginia Foxhounds were used to lay the foundation for this hard-working hound. The Black & Tan Coonhound runs its game entirely by scent and is used primarily for trailing and treeing raccoons. This is often referred to as "Cold Scenting" or "Cold Trailing."

Your Coonhound may never track anything more than a pizza box out from under your kid's bed. But that does not mean a moist nose operating at maximum smell gathering capacity isn’t important!

Generation after generation of breeding for maximum scenting ability has been hard-wired into your dog's DNA. Even more so than other dogs, your Black and Tan Coonhound MUST have his nose working at full sniffing power to feel his best.

Black and Tan Coonhound NOSE BUTTER® moisturizes and nourishes your dog’s rough, dry nose. After a few days of NOSE BUTTER® usage your dog will look better AND feel better. The physical benefits are apparent, but the physchological benefits are just as important. With his genetics demanding full sniffing power, your Coonhound will be more confident, grounded and secure if he is getting all the info he needs. A smooth, moist nose = happy, confident Black & Tan Coonhound.

NASAL HYPERKERATOSIS INFO

NASAL HYPERKERATOSIS AKA CRUSTY CRUD, BARNACLE NOSE

Is your dog’s nose EXTREMELY dry? Does it look like barnacles are growing on it? Are there layers or chunks of crust that crack and bleed? If your dog’s nose could be described as  extremely dry, or looks like the BEFORE noses in the image above, it may be Nasal Hyperkeratosis. Rest assured, it is not caused by diet, genetics, playing in the dirt or anything you can control.

Nasodigital or Nasal Hyperkeratosis is an idiopathic condition, which means unknown cause ¯\(°_o)/¯ that is marked by the excessive formulation of nose crust that vets call keratin, (vet-speak for protein). It actually IS layers of skin tissue that has grown wild over on the nose. This condition isn't life-threatening and most veterinarians consider Nasal Hyperkeratosis cosmetic. But there are medical, cosmetic and mental health reasons that this dry nose condition can affect your dog's well being. It has to be uncomfortable for your dog. Your dog cannot breathe as easily. It’s unattractive, of course.

Most importantly, your dog is not getting the scents and smells they ned to feel secure and confident. A healthy moist nose snags good smells that float by and provide your dog with info. A dry nose is not going to capture the info packed smells. This can lead to frustration and a lack of self confidence. Your dog knows info is out there, but he cannot get it.
