NO USPS RATE INCREASE 2015
NO USPS RATE INCREASE
USPS® (United States Postal Service) has announced there will be NO USPS PRICE INCREASE in January 2015.
I know, I know, that does not mean rates won’t up go up EVER, but USPS usually announces a rate increase in January, so I’ll take it as good news.
My head explodes when any of your packages don’t make it to you in a timely manner, or heaven forbid, at all! But overall, the USPS does a great job.
My great-great-grandparents probably mailed a letter and had to wait for it to travel by wagon or horse to destinations in the USA. And letters overseas went by incredibly slow boat and could take literally YEARS. So 2-3 days for Priority Mail within the USA and a week or so Internationally is pretty durn amazing!
FEDEX and UPS have announced increases for 2015
UPS® announced rate increases of an average of 4.9% for its Ground, Air and International services
FedEx® also announced rate increases of an average of 4.9% for FedEx Ground and Home delivery, and on FedEx Express for U.S. domestic and U.S. export.
And here’s another “gotcha” to watch out for if you ship via UPS or FedEx…dimensional weight rating.
As an FYI, even though The Blissful Dog does not use UPS or FEDEX for anything but Wholesale orders, here is some info of interest.
Starting December 29, 2014 for UPS and January 1, 2015 for FedEx, they will begin dimensional weight pricing for all ground shipments. This means that an item weighing 2 pounds (like a pair of shoes of small handbag), packed in a 19x15x5 box would have a dimensional weight rating of 9 pounds – that’s a 28.3% price increase. OUCH!
