Oh, this info is for DOGS only, as cats are out of my realm of expertise. There are many essential oils and supplements from Young Living that can support the physical and emotional well-being of us and our dogs. Keep in mind, just like with us, dogs require oils that suit their individual needs, body chemistry and make-up. What works on one animal, might be different for another. There are also some combinations of oils that work on almost all dogs. You may just have to try a bit!
Tips for Calming a Nervous Dog
• If you are trying to calm a very skittish dog down, apply Peace & Calming, Surrender or Acceptance on yourself
• Sit near them, being very calm and quiet
• The dog will begin to calm just from smelling YOU
• As time allows then rub the ears with oils, gently...inside and out
• The above tips are great for bonding with a new dog also
Ways to Use Oils
• Tip the ears (see above)
• Rub diluted oils on paw pads
• Spritz in air above your dog
• Spray coat!
• Diffusing will not only make the room smell fabulous, it will also disinfect, clean and deodorize!
Dogs can be even more sensitive to oils than people, thanks to those super powerful noses of theirs! When beginning using oils always dilute the oils in the YLO V6 base (recommended) or use a high quality jojoba oil, almond oil or such. I use a mix of about 1 part oils to 3 parts base.
If any redness or reaction occurs do NOT wash off, use more of the base oil to dilute the effect!
To make a spray or spritzer use the recommended amount of oils in an 8 ounce bottle of spring water.
Yet MORE Ways to Use Oils
• Add a few drops of Lemongrass to rinse cycle when washing dog beds
• Add 1-2 drops of Lemongrass to pet shampoo to repel bugs
• Diffuse Thieves, Raven, Pine or Exodus II to help make BREATHING easier for our flat faced friends
• Rub a few drops of Peace & Calming on your hands before handling puppies.
• Remember, the supplements YLO has are GREAT for your dogs also!
