BULLDOG NOSE BUTTER® DRY NOSE TREATMENT

DRY BULLDOG NOSE…SO COMMON…SO TREATABLE

Your Bulldog brings so much joy…how can you look at that face and not smile? Plus, those crazy Bulldog antics keep everyone laughing! How many times have you watched that video of the Bulldog skateboarding? Yeah, me too.

Those of us who love the Bulldog breeds are used to that bully temperament, a bit of stubbornness and maybe a little gassiness from time to time. Hmmm, did I just describe my husband? One thing you do not have to accept is a dry Bulldog nose. The Blissful Dog NOSE BUTTER® will have your Bulldog’s nose in beautiful bully shape FAST!

TIME FOR YOUR BULLDOG NOSE SCIENCE LESSON Your Bulldog may have a classic dry nose – a bit dull, a little rough and dry. If so, NOSE BUTTER® will have that nose back in moist shape FAST. If your Bulldog’s nose looks like the ones below, like it has barnacles growing on it or you cringe at the layers of stubborn cracked crust, your Bulldog may have Nasal Hyperkeratosis. Click the Toggle + to learn more.

MORE NASAL HYPERKERATOSIS INFO

Is the dryness on your dog’s nose MORE than just some dry skin? Are there layers of rough tissue that look like barnacles or bark? Your dog may have Nasal Hyperkeratosis.

Nasal hyperkeratosis is an idiopathic condition (¯\(°_o)/¯ medical-speak for they don’t have a clue where it comes from) that causes your dog to create a protein or keratin overgrowth (keratin-more jargon, it just means protein tissue). It is tissue, so it may bleed if you try to pick it off (don’t pick, dogs hate that).

You have not done anything wrong, this is not caused from bad genetics, your dog’s food or water or his love for rooting in the dirt. While it IS a condition, nasal hyperkeratosis can be easily gotten under control and kept under control.

Flat-faced breeds, Bulldog types, toy breeds, the mastiff family and anything with a chunky body type or extreme characteristics seem to have a genetic predisposition toward this condition.

Dry climates, dry heating or a/c and some physical conditions or medications may also aggravate the dryness.

The term condition means this is a chronic issue that can be HEALED but not CURED. The symptoms (the crust) can be gotten under control, and kept under control, but regular maintenance is required. Much as heart worm medicine has to be given or ears cleaned, your dog may require extra nose maintenance attention.

Personally, I feel a slightly depressed or compromised immune system is also one of the causes. Many of the breeds prone to this have extreme characteristics such as flat faces, chunky bodies, are really BIG or really small. It stands to reason that to get such an extreme body type and “look” something is compromised.

NOSE BUTTER® can keep your dog’s nose looking and feeling great with a minimum of expense and trouble. It makes me feel so good that our product has helped tens of thousands of dogs all over the world look and feel better. I’m honored you found us!

BULLDOG INFO

The English Bulldog originated in the British Isles, of course. The dog was used in bull baiting, which was a common past time during this era. They were aggressive, ferocious and courageous. They did not hesitate to attack full grown bulls. Bulldogs dove underneath the bull and came up, aiming for the neck, making it hard for the bull to fight back.

Oh Boy! Though many of us know of Warren G. Harding’s Airedale, Laddie Boy, did you know he also had a Bulldog while President?  His pet bulldog, Oh Boy, died during his first term in office and that was when the Airedale moved into the White House.

Uga BulldogWe’re #1 Bulldogs are one of the most popular mascots for colleges, universities and sports teams. Uga, the mascot of the University of Georgia team, is one of the most famous.  Since 1956 there have been nine Ugas.

The Ugas who have ambled across the Rainbow Bridge are laid to rest in a mausoleum close to the front of Sanford Stadium. A bronze plaque describing each dog’s term as mascot and an epitaph is engraved in front of each final resting place.

Oh, Baby! Over 80% of bulldogs are delivered by C-section. The heads and shoulders are too big to pass naturally, making surgery a necessity.

THE BLISSFUL DOG PRODUCTS

WHAT MAKES THE BLISSFUL DOG PRODUCTS SPECIAL?

Our products have been used for over 13 years by tens of thousands of dogs all over the world with resoundingly positive results. One of the common threads I read in the many, many testimonials we receive is this…”That stuff just works!”

Whether it is NOSE BUTTER®, PAW BUTTER, ELBOW BUTTER, BOO BOO BUTTER, NOSE BUTTER SUMMERTIME or RELAX, we consistently hear from our valued customers that they were thrilled to have a product do what it said it would do.

Plus, I have over 30 years of passionate work in the world of dogs. From breeding and showing top winning French Bulldogs to working in management for industry giants Petsmart and PETCO, to graphic design work, where I designed layouts, advertisements and wrote for many dog magazines and books for over 20 years, I have been immersed (husband says obsessed) with the dog fancy for most of my adult life. (I use the term adult loosely, I hear my friends snickering.)

What the heck does all that have to do with NOSE BUTTER®? you may be thinking. See, I’m psychic, too. It means that I have read, researched, studied and lived with all things dog for decades. That is the secret ingredient I am honored to share with you and your dog.

THE BLISSFUL DOG INGREDIENT FAQS

Everything that goes into The Blissful Dog products is sourced from human organic cosmetics and all natural supply sources. The exact same ingredients as you see in luxurious spa products are used in the products we make for your, and our, dogs. Questions? Email me!

SHEA BUTTER (Shay) When I first created NOSE BUTTER® over 12 years ago shea butter was a little known ingredient, now it is everywhere and with good reason! Shea butter is the main ingredient used in your organic dog’s balms. All of our butters build from a shea butter base. Shea butter has been known to help protect the skin against the damaging effects of the sun while repairing cellular degeneration. Our shea butter is refined and deodorized without the use of harsh chemicals. Shea butter has quickly become a go-to butter for the most opulent of balms and luxurious body pampering.

The shea tree grows almost exclusively in Western Africa, where it is used as a food, cooking oil, beauty product and source of income. It takes approximately 15 years of growth before the tree begins to bear fruit.

SHEA OIL  is extremely high in Vitamins A, E and F. It provides skin with all the essential elements it needs for good balance, elasticity and tone. Shea Oil is the base for The Blissful Dog Shine On! Nose Polish™. Using shea oil enables your dog to have the same healthy ingredients as shea butter, but in an easy to apply oil form. It is not just melted down shea butter, is is processed differently to stay at a liquid form.

COCOA SEED BUTTER is an aromatic solid butter pressed from the roasted seeds of the Cacao tree. It softens at body temperature and adds a rich, creamy, thick consistency to our butters. There is no heavy chocolate smell or caffeine left in the butter we use, just a nutty goodness. Note: There is none of the active ingredient in dark chocolate in the Cacao Seed Butter. So, no harm to your precious dog!

ALMOND OIL is best known for its ability to soften, soothe, and re-condition the skin. It made from raw almond kernels and exceptionally rich in fatty acids. Note: Adding a bit of Almond Oil to a topically applied product is different from feeding your dog almonds. The oil is processed in a different manner than nuts for consumption. The almond oil in our products is safe for use on dogs.

COCONUT OIL is a renowned general moisturizing oil and serves as a protective layer, helping to retain the moisture in your skin. It is great for inflamed and irritated skin, and those with skin sensitivities. For years I had hesitated to use Coconut Oil, maybe it was all those summers slathered in Hawaiian Tropics suntan oil that I am paying the price for now. But after testing it, I knew that it had to be added to the mix.

CASTOR OIL comes from certified organic Castor beans. It is a hard, shiny oil that acts as a “barrier agent and protective medium against harsh conditions and extremes.” I resisted this one for a while, maybe thinking about having to ingest Castor Oil as a child did it, but it is such an amazing oil, I added it and am thrilled with the results. Note: There are none of the properties of the ricin that has been in the news (and Breaking Bad). The process that makes it oil eliminates that possibility.

AVOCADO OIL contains a high amount of proteins and unsaturated fats, omega-3 fatty acids, it is also high in a substance called sterolin, which studies have shown to facilitate the softening of the skin and to reduce the incidence of age spots; and is rich in antioxidants, making it useful for healing damaged skin and it contains lecithin and potassium. From Pet Poison Hotline: Avocado contains a toxin called persin, but despite the rumors, avocado is not poisonous to dogs.

COMFREY OIL infusion is made from certified organic Comfrey leaves and root (Symphytum officinale) infused (steeped) in a base of organic olive oil. Traditionally used for general wound healing, treatment of bruises and for skin cell growth. Comfrey grows throughout Europe, North America and western Asia.

CHAMOMILE OIL INFUSION Chamomile is relaxing, cleansing, moisturizing, soothing, calming, cooling, anti-inflammatory, and is well known for reducing calluses.

BEESWAX is a wonderful substance secreted by worker honeybees. Beeswax has a higher melting temperature, so it helps the various butters keep their shape and ship better. PAW BUTTER has more beeswax since it acts as such an amazing protective barrier.

CALENDULA OIL is great for dry and damaged skin, skin inflammations, etc. It is an all around powerful addition to anything to do with skin or noses, paws or elbows. The Calendula plant has been used medicinally, in food, as a fabric dye, and cosmetics. This oil has been used for its anti-inflammatory properties as well as combating rough or scaly skin.

ST. JOHN’S WORT OIL that we use is made from freshly gathered St. Johns Wort flowers and infused in organic Olive oil, with Vitamin E oil added. Used externally is is a valuable anti-inflammatory which can help speed the healing of wounds, bruises, bee stings, and mild burns. Just a good herbal oil to use! You will see this ingredient in many organic dog products, such as ourPAW BUTTER and ELBOW BUTTER.

ARGAN OIL is a glorious oil and exploding in popularity now. The active substances, triterpenoids, in Argan Oil offer many  protection benefits. These include tissue healing (scars), anti-inflammatory, sun-protective and disinfectant properties. The oil contains 80% unsaturated fatty acids. Back in the day argan oil was extracted from the nut after a goat ate the fruit. Yep, exactly what you are thinking! Thank goodness we don’t have to rely on goat poo for organ oil anymore.

PUMPKIN SEED OIL is a dark green oil that is very rich in beneficial fatty acids, antioxidants (Vitamin E, beta-carotene and zeaxanthin), and compounds such as phytosterols and delta-7-sterine that have many health benefits. Pumpkin seeds are macerated for their oil and plant constituents. This oil contains over 60% unsaturated fatty acids and is high in Omega 3 and Omega 6.

NEEM OIL has many benefits – both therapeutic and medicinal use. Neem Oil is anti-septic, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal. Used widely in creams, dental products, hair care products, and in gardens for natural pest control. Known for its ability to treat problematic skin conditions, we use Neem Oil in our BOO BOO BUTTER and NOSE BUTTER SUMMERTIME. This oil is really think and rich, contains a heavy odor. Trust me, undiluted it has a very strong smell!

JOJOBA OIL Jojoba is actually not an oil, but it is a liquid wax ester. Cold pressed from the Jojoba plant, it has fabulous moisturizing properties and is used extensively in the cosmetic industry.

GRAPE SEED OIL is a light oil that is rich in vitamins and minerals which makes it a nourishing addition to any product, especially massage oils, intended for dry, damaged or irritated skin. Note: As in some of the other ingredients, the usage of grapes oil is not considered harmful to dogs in any manner. It is processed and carries a different chemical base than what your dog would get from eating grapes.

Choosing-NOSE-BUTTERWHAT NOSE BUTTER® DO I NEED FOR MY DOG?  SO MANY CHOICES!

NOSE BUTTER OPTIONS

REMEMBER, THE BREED LABELS ARE JUST FOR FUN! NOSE BUTTER is the same formulation for all the breeds.

YOU DON’T HAVE MY BREED? WHAT DO I CHOOSE?

Choose any breed you like OR the JUST A NOSE or our MIXED BREED label. Let me know what breed you have and if I get enough requests I will add that label!

You know what breed label you want…what next?

TIP! CHOOSE TIN OR TUBE NEXT

Some dogs respond better to your fingers as the applicator, some dogs prefer a quick dab with the tube and others don’t care at all. If in doubt get a Combo that has tins and tubes and try both methods of application. We offer a lot of sizes because DOGS come in all sizes. The Blissful Dog accommodates your dog’s size from Chihuahuas to Mastiffs.

TINS

  • Product is applied using your fingers
  • Better value per ounce
  • Tin can be re-used
  • TIP! Do NOT select slider top tin if you are in a hot area (product may melt in shipping over 90 degrees F)
  • Slider top tin is easy to open for those with arthritis or grip issues

TUBES OR STICKS*

  • Product is dabbed onto your dog’s nose like we apply lip balm
  • Convenient and easy to use
  • Nothing gets on your hands
  • Product is easy to open for those with arthritis or grip issues
  • Tube is like a chapstick, glue stick or deodorant tube NOT like a toothpaste tube
  • The .15 ounce tube is the size of a chapstick or lip balm – the .50 ounce tube is a better value than the Three Pack of the .15 oz tubes
  • * I had never heard tubes referred to as “sticks” until recently, maybe it is a regional thing – like all Pop is a Coke in the South…hmmm

SIZES

  • As expected, the larger sizes are more economical
  • Older dogs will need more frequent application
  • Individual dog may need more frequent applications
  • See image below for dimensions of containers
  • Remember, a dry nose is a condition that will require NOSE BUTTER® for maintenance

  • NOSE BUTTER will do no harm if your dog licks some and swallows it (or eats the whole tin)

• Your dog’s sense of smell is their #1 method of gathering info

• Your dog’s olfactory brain hub is 40x larger than yours (hear them gloating?)

• Your dog’s sense of smell is 1000–10,000,000 x more sensitive than yours (more gloating)
